I’ve only seen the first two episodes, and already I can say that this isn’t working for me. It seems I'm out of step with most viewers, as I've found it to be a letdown so far. The controversy surrounding religion, similar to what happened with *Good Omens*, doesn't really factor into my feelings; in fact, I appreciate that they seem to be enjoying themselves. However, from a purely television standpoint, the whole thing felt like an obligation. While I generally like Michael Sheen and David Tennant as actors—Sheen especially—I don’t think either of them are right for their parts. Sheen seems restrained, and at times Tennant's portrayal feels like he's doing a Bill Nighy impression, which is meant to be humorous but also misses the mark. I didn't pick up on any spark between them either. The special effects aren’t particularly impressive; some of the digitally altered backgrounds look subpar. The humor is acceptable, though it feels contrived. Also, scenes linger too long—for instance, a sequence involving three babies that had potential for cleverness gets stretched out and becomes overly obvious. It needed to be much quicker paced, which really encapsulates my general impression of the series. As I mentioned earlier, I’m clearly in a small group with this opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own tastes, and I respect other people's views, but I just didn’t find anything to latch onto, unfortunately. Maybe someday I’ll revisit it, but I don’t anticipate that happening.
