It’s common to hear people discuss this OVA/movie and claim they don't get it, praising Kintaro Oe as an inspirational figure and relating to him. What those viewers are suggesting is that they admire a man who acts like a pervert, almost ruining a company's records simply to appear superior to his female colleagues, exploits a woman who’s been mistreated by her boyfriend for sexual gratification, obsessively pursues a swim teacher until she obtains a restraining order against him, manipulates a biker into falling in love with him and mocks her interest in motorcycles, and views women as objects for sex. No thank you; I'd prefer not to idolize what amounts to the anime version of Harvey Weinstein. Looking back, Golden Boy is even more appalling than I initially recalled, now ranking alongside Gorno as the worst film I’ve ever seen. FUCK YOU/10
