This series isn't particularly enjoyable, nor is it awful. I have some serious issues with certain aspects, though. First off, why are the teenage characters, who are supposed to be around fifteen or sixteen years old, engaging in frequent sexual activity? It seems like a recurring issue across many Netflix programs—why does there appear to be an effort to portray these children as overly sexualized? I really don’t get it. The writing is also awkward; the poems included are truly dreadful and elicit a cringe response every time they're recited. It takes considerable restraint not to switch off the TV because the actress playing Ginny has this habit of pausing before saying someone’s name—like, "Yeah .... Dad." This happens consistently, not just occasionally. The only thing keeping me watching is how compelling it is and my desire to know what will happen at the end of each episode. I'm hoping for improvements in the writing, directing, and acting in a future season.
