Synopsis

Late one night, while working, Togusa receives a call from an old colleague from his days on the police force. The caller claims to have uncovered something unsettling within the Laughing Man Unit, a specialized task force dedicated to capturing the elusive cybercriminal known only as the Laughing Man. Before he can meet with Togusa and share his findings, however, the colleague is killed in a car accident.
