TAPS explores the profoundly unsettling Penhurst State School and Hospital in Philadelphia. Penhurst was abruptly shuttered in 1986 following revelations of severe patient abuse – individuals were, in effect, confined to cages. It is understandable, then, if any spirits linger there with resentment or sorrow.
