The TAPS team explores Fort Delaware, situated on Pea Patch Island. The island lies in the middle of the Delaware River, close to the point where it meets Delaware Bay. Formerly a site of important military defenses, it is now preserved as Fort Delaware State Park by the state of Delaware. During the American Civil War, the Union Army utilized Fort Delaware as a prison camp for Confederate soldiers, notably those captured during the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863.
