I’ll give it two thumbs up for the nudity; it certainly kept me engaged, and I’m not going to apologize for saying that. The performances were solid too. However, I do have an issue with the fantasy elements. There was a relentless focus on establishing the setting—world building, world building, world building—and this was combined with some pretty confusing explanations, gibberish, gibberish, gibberish. By the time it finally got to what seemed like the central story... I’d already lost interest. I really don't need all that background; I’d rather get straight into the plot and skip the unnecessary details. For example, they have creatures that aren't quite wolves…and I just don't care. They included dragons, which is great, but an excessive amount of time was devoted to explaining why they are uncommon...again, I didn't care. Dragons exist, they’re rare, let’s move on to the murders and scheming. I honestly would have preferred shows like Rome, Deadwood, or The Sopranos—series that didn't require so much investment in creating their worlds.
