Since the commencement of the Iraq War, arrests of soldiers in Colorado Springs have tripled. At least thirty-six servicemen stationed at Fort Carson have taken their own lives, and fourteen soldiers from the base have faced charges or convictions in at least eleven homicides. Many of these violent crimes were perpetrated by men who had served together in the same battalion in Iraq, including three from a single platoon of infantrymen.
