I feel certain that many children have participated in The Floor is Lava, dedicating considerable time to jumping from furniture in an effort to avoid a fictional demise. Demonstrating the lack of originality originating from studios, Netflix has recently introduced a game show titled _Floor is Lava_. For some reason they omitted "The" from the official name, but I'm not going to second-guess their grammatical choices... Combining elements of that familiar childhood pastime and contemporary escape rooms, groups of three contestants navigate an obstacle course. Besides having to avoid the simulated lava floor, they must jump between objects, maneuver along walls, and determine which items are helpful and which present hazards. There's not a great deal to describe about this program. The trailer provides a complete preview of what viewers can expect: a boisterous commentator, excessively enthusiastic contestants, and loud, theatrical music and graphics. It’s grating, and I often fast-forwarded through the breaks just to get to the team competitions. It's rather silly, and after watching only two episodes, I found it difficult to stay engaged; it quickly became something playing in the background while I occupied myself with more stimulating activities, such as observing paint dry.
