Synopsis

Jesse unveiled his play, a work steeped in the aesthetic of the 1930s, to Mr. Dyrenforth. The gentleman, envisioning the potential for a $20,000 prize from the Kimble Foundation, agreed to finance the production. However, the board ultimately declined to contribute, a decision rectified by a donation from Lou Mackie that covered the necessary production costs. The project seemed poised for success, until the lead actress, Nicole, fell ill with laryngitis.
