Synopsis

A visiting speaker at the school took a particular liking to Lydia, and assigned the students a task with the intention of returning and seeing her again. He invited her out, but she found his ostentatious lifestyle unappealing, and her displeasure deepened when he disparaged the students’ work on the assignment. His criticism was especially sharp towards Leroy, and he voiced his disapproval of their education. Shorofsky instructed Bruno in the art of conducting.
