The constant references to “wokeness” aside, **_Fallout_** could very well be the best video game adaptation of a science fiction horror story ever filmed. The production demonstrates a genuine appreciation for what came before, which is evident in everything from the design of the locations and costumes to the music and overall aesthetic—even beneath the gruesome imagery. Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, and Walton Goggins form an ideal group of main characters, each bringing something important to their roles, and their individual narratives blend together seamlessly with all the other impressive sights and sounds. This is top-quality post-apocalyptic entertainment that should appeal to those familiar with the franchise as well as new viewers, provided they're approaching it with the right expectations. It feels like a natural part of the larger series, exhibiting a level of detail, scope, budget, and intensity that’s rare in today's film and television landscape. I am personally very happy this was made; it gave me exactly what I wanted—a retro-futuristic depiction of survival in a dystopian world.
