The Cooper storyline and his portrayal stood out significantly; he was what made the series engaging for me. I thought most of the other characters and performances were just okay. The lead character and actress didn't do much to hold my attention, and they often felt irritating, although that applied to the MacLean family as a whole, aside from the brother when he was looking into things. It would have been more logical if he had taken on the central role. What I appreciated most about the show was its depiction of a believable post-apocalyptic world. However, it would have been better if Cooper had been the main character instead of someone who's seemingly immune to danger and survives every attempt on their life in such a perilous setting.
