Fabiola and Andrea become orphans after their parents die in a plane crash. They, along with their grandmother Hortensia, are taken aback when they discover that Juana, their housekeeper, is the person set to inherit a million dollars. The Medina family reacts angrily to this news and tries to pressure Juana into handing over the insurance money. Tired of everyone’s selfishness, she insists that she will manage the funds herself, prioritizing the well-being of Andrea and Fabiola. Hortensia demands that Juana leave, unaware that her granddaughters will come to her defense. After a misunderstanding, Hortensia departs. Juana isn't interested in money; her primary concern is her son Ramón, who used to work as a mechanic in the countryside but had to relocate to the capital after falling for Sofia, the daughter of a Mafia boss. He was forced to end their relationship and leave to protect him from her father. Ramón arrives at Luisa and Dalia’s house, surprising Juana, who informs him about his parents' deaths and the insurance money. Ramón suggests that she give the Medina family the money to avoid trouble with them. Dalia takes Ramón to Antonio’s car workshop to help him find work. There, he unexpectedly encounters Fabiola, who wastes no opportunity to insult him, revealing that she owns the shop and doesn’t plan on hiring him. Meanwhile, Hortensia seeks legal counsel to challenge the document naming Juana as the sole beneficiary of the Medina family’s life insurance. She even fabricates that the signature on the insurance is forged, accusing Juana of being a counterfeiter, seemingly willing to lose the inheritance just to see her in jail. It's later revealed that Juana genuinely is the beneficiary after Andrea and Jorge find a video recording where Fabiola and Andrea’s parents decided to leave the money to her. Thus, as Juana deals with Hortensia’s relentless attacks, Ramón finds himself caught between two women who are vying for his affection and will fight fiercely to keep him.
