There was once a common pattern in TV detective shows where the most recognizable actor appearing only briefly at the beginning would turn out to be the culprit. It meant you could often guess the outcome very early on. The programs were still enjoyable because this wasn’t always the case. However, this show doesn't use that familiar trick. Instead, it employs a more recent tendency: identifying the villain based on their ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation. The reveal takes slightly longer, but even from the premiere, you can confidently predict who the antagonists will be and how shallowly they’ll be portrayed because of those characteristics.
