The story and writing are really bad; the writer seems to want to emulate Veena Sud’s style from "The Killing," but Vanessa Gazy isn’t anywhere near as talented. The acting is subdued and lifeless, and the initial idea about identical twin sisters doesn't work because they don’t look alike—flashbacks constantly point this out. It’s unfortunate that the more attractive sister spends most of the time off-screen. There's a strange element of sexual desire displayed by the two sisters with scenes where they are partially nude, showing shoulders and necks. The plot feels clumsy, and the lead actress gives an irritatingly breathy performance. Her husband’s acting is awful—he plays a stereotypical “dork”—and he keeps getting pulled into the story just to offer vague advice like "don't rush things," "be careful," or "should I come out there?" He seems too clueless to realize his wife is unstable and needs him nearby. The show includes familiar tropes: dolls, references to Chucky, searching for diaries, checking phone records, a peculiar brother-in-law, and a daughter who vacillates between acknowledging her mother and questioning her appearance. Honestly, the only thing that stands out is the town sheriff’s large eyes. The ratings systems are inaccurate because they're pulling data from a series with the same name from 2001. I quit watching about three-quarters of the way through Episode 2; it wasn't worth enduring any more of this story. Still, I have to admit, the marketing was pretty good.
