Sonia worried that Chloe’s grandmother was too frail to provide adequate care, but Jim cautioned her that she risked losing Martin if she didn’t allow Chloe to leave. She conceded the point, yet later consulted a map to find Chloe's address. Just as she was about to board the bus, she turned back and returned. When Sonia confessed to Martin that she had seen Chloe at the funeral, he erupted in anger. He declared that Chloe was no longer their daughter and stormed from the house.
