A growing irritation settled upon Sue as the café descended into a state of near-disorder. Meanwhile, Pete relayed to Arthur the news of Michelle’s proposal to Lofty, a piece of information met with considerable disapproval. Later, at the Vic, Arthur’s drinking led him to a startling conclusion: that Lofty was the father of Michelle’s child.
