Jim Ellison, the powerful Eastern money broker, found his standing irrevocably damaged by the court battle with Ben, and refused Blake’s desperate plea for a billion dollars to rebuild Denver-Carrington. Unexpectedly, Farouk Ahmed, a financial magnate from the Middle East, offered Blake the funds, but at a price that seemed exorbitant.
