Synopsis

Matthew received an unexpected call from Walter Lankershim, an acquaintance from years past. Walter’s voice was laced with desperation as he requested a loan; he was deeply in debt. A venture to drill for oil, funded by Blake, had yielded nothing but failure. Matthew, however, refused to extend him any further assistance. Later, Matthew journeyed to see his current wife, Claudia, who had spent the last eighteen months in a mental institution. He was heartened to learn she was recovering well
