It gives the impression of aiming for something like *F is For Family*, yet lacks the continuing storylines and character development that would really engage viewers. Truthfully, it isn’t particularly humorous, but its biggest problem is that the material feels familiar—and when we've encountered it before, it was significantly funnier and more daring. I’m actually watching an episode centered on a video game competition right now, and *The Simpsons* already covered this ground years ago, and did so in a superior way (even considering their recent decline). I’m serious; *The Simpsons* managed to do it better, which is something you haven't heard anyone say in quite some time. There are no surprises here, nothing that subverts what you anticipate, and not even the slightest hint of satire. You will recognize this type of story, but never have you seen it while attempting to be so bland that it ceases to be amusing.
