Synopsis

The film chronicles a pivotal period in American history: Abraham Lincoln's perilous journey to his inauguration, fraught with the threat of assassination; Francis Scott Key's composition of "The Star-Spangled Banner"; and the bitter literary rivalry between Edgar Allan Poe and Rufus Griswold.
