A gay romance doesn't connect with viewers who aren’t part of that community; and that just **_so happens to be 98% of this country_**, America. Review: The story involves a gay ex-slave elf-woman who is asked for assistance by her gay ex-girlfriend, who is human. This elf-woman and her male partner team up to help the ex-girlfriend and her dwarf-man partner steal an object of importance. **NOTE:** [I am not being facetious nor malicious; this is the literal story.] The theft they are hired for requires the elf-woman to return to the city where she was enslaved. This also means confronting her former owner, who raised her from childhood and considers her family—a sentiment she never reciprocated throughout the series. Naturally, they have to fight because the job went wrong, and he owns what they were trying to steal. The ex-girlfriend is captured, so a rescue mission becomes necessary. All of this occurs even though the former owner saved the elf-woman's life due to his (misguided) feelings for her; she’s intolerant, self-absorbed, murderous, and cowardly. So let’s clarify: They try to steal from him for money. Things go wrong. The elf-woman nearly loses her life. Her ex-girlfriend is captured. He saves the elf-woman's thieving/murdering life because of misplaced sentiment. And now he’s the villain because he wants to use magic—something he excels at—to resurrect her brother, whom she killed, so they can rule the land. This would be his right, once he proves himself magically capable to his peers. It's not that there are no good stories; it is that some writers aren’t very good. And (I don’t know if this is “Hollywood” making decisions, but let’s call those in charge "Hollywood" for the sake of argument) when Hollywood puts artificial limits on a story, particularly ones that don't resonate with most viewers, it detracts from what the show should be doing: entertaining. And no amount of special effects or action scenes will compensate for that. I didn’t finish watching this series, and I didn’t need to. My interest waned when the elf-woman turned down her "brother's" offer to return home, witness his resurrection of her brother, and free her girlfriend. *Her* resistance drives her actions from there, which is how she becomes the antagonist (in my opinion). He hasn’t actually done anything truly evil—not even in flashbacks—while she’s already being an presumptuous jerk. Yes, he's holding her human ex-girlfriend prisoner, but only after they attempted to steal from him! Which, keeping the gay human woman in a cell, is within his rights. Keep this show away from children under 16. There are no lessons here. There are no heroes either. The animation gets 2.5/10. -- Bob --
