Synopsis

Heather, a devoted follower of Dr. Phil and active in his fan community, journeyed 1,600 miles from Arkansas to Los Angeles seeking assistance for her fifteen-year-old daughter, Marissa. She describes Marissa as possessing a startling duality, a shifting personality. One moment Marissa is a bright student with aspirations of a career in cardiology, achieving academic excellence; the next, she is involved in reckless behavior, including marijuana use and car theft, even confessing to stealing her
