It’s remarkable how determined this drama seemed to be in its effort to steer clear of anything remotely engaging. It required nearly three episodes just to establish the fundamental setup mentioned in the description, and only then did the plot begin to unfold. There was a moment earlier on when it appeared things might become compelling, but abruptly, everything was reset. The writing felt completely uninspired; she previously contributed to "The Beauty Inside" (2018), which was reasonably good, so I’m unsure what her approach is here. Later, attempts to explore themes of death, mortality, grief, and fate fell flat and seemed underdeveloped. While the unconventional romantic storyline attempted to incorporate these themes, it didn't quite feel believable or cohesive, creating a jarring effect during its most pivotal scenes. The secondary romance was even worse, presenting deeply unlikeable portrayals of Joo Ik, Hyun Gyu, and Ji Na. Their relationship felt completely out of place within the larger story, narrative, and thematic framework; it seemed carelessly thrown in as filler. Even if considered separately, it didn't work for numerous reasons. At least Ji Na’s role provided some support to the female lead as a friend.
