Synopsis

The annual Banei Horse Racing takes place this year in Obihiro, Hokkaido. These are powerful horses, descendants of those once employed in agriculture. It's a singular event, rarely seen elsewhere, where competitors vie for strength by pulling sleds weighing up to a ton. The course features two mountains, and the horses pause to rest and recover, continuing their determined progress towards the finish line over the three days of the race.
