Synopsis

Each winter, anglers from all over Japan converge on Ishizakihama, a favored surf destination in Miyazaki Prefecture, the country’s southwest. They arrive with a shared ambition: to land the mulloway, a fish that ventures close to shore during this season and can attain lengths exceeding a meter. Yet, success is considered a rare prize, akin to winning the lottery. For three days, we observed these dedicated anglers as they pursued these elusive creatures, forging bonds of friendship along the w
