The program proved popular in England, and for good reason, though I’m not sure if it gained much traction in America. It's a mild-mannered series centering on a team of colleagues who seem to actually enjoy each other's company as they navigate minor issues and offer observations about everyday existence. I recognize four performers from *Coronation Street*, which I used to appreciate until its shift toward excessive violence and sensationalism in the 90s. It was nice to see Anne Reid and Thelma Barlow again after their departures from that show, and I understand several other actors who appeared on *Coronation Street* also had roles here; I’ll be watching for them during a rewatch. Victoria Wood created the series as well, and it's smartly written with an excellent group of performers. Apparently, Ms. Wood stopped working on the program after two seasons because she was concerned about its decline in quality. It would be wonderful if more shows followed that example.
