David Tennant’s presence seems to elicit an unwarranted level of praise. It's as if his mere involvement is enough for audiences to declare something brilliant. He could recite the list of ingredients on a food product, and people would likely react with enthusiasm. He appears to have accepted every acting opportunity that came his way, resulting in a history filled with forgettable TV movies, superhero stories, and voicing animated characters. It seems money is the only consideration. I simply don't understand the fascination. The fact that he played Dr. Who, combined with frequent mentions of his stage work, doesn’t justify constant positive attention. Actually, I consider him to be someone who overacts, consistently using unnecessary gestures and actions in an effort to overshadow other performers and dominate a scene. He comes across as self-centered outside of acting roles, and that attitude is evident in many of his performances. Consequently, portraying this character—who's consumed by himself—must have felt quite comfortable for him. Earning high praise requires more than just adopting an unusual accent.
