After watching, I’ve realized this trial felt like one where neither party was definitively in the right, making the jury’s final decision almost inconsequential. There wasn't solid proof on either side, though we did see video and audio recordings from Amber's perspective that seemed to show Depp under the influence of alcohol or drugs, acting erratically, breaking things, and using insulting language toward her. These videos strongly suggest he struggles with substance abuse, which doesn’t appear to be a problem for Amber. I also believe most people sided with Depp primarily because he is an established actor with a large following—and as the docuseries reveals, his fanbase largely consists of young women, creating an inherent bias in favor of him and ultimately making things unjust. It's obvious that he wasn’t treating her well. While Amber may be spirited, it's hard to imagine any wife putting up with a husband who is constantly drinking, using drugs, and verbally abusive. And it was clear they weren't a good match. Ultimately, why would someone do what Amber did if the marriage were positive? Depp has considerable wealth, so a woman in his position wouldn’t typically have financial worries, but her actions indicate there were significant issues within their relationship that couldn’t be resolved. What could she possibly hope to achieve by doing this? Why would she risk everything? People need to consider this—just because you like an actor doesn't mean he is a good partner. It’s time for people to move past these biases.
