Death Note is my absolute top series, not just among anime but across all television shows I’ve seen; it's genuinely stunning television. The quality of its creation shines through in every aspect, from the excellent animation and music to the superb acting, both in the original Japanese and the English dub. The characters—Light, L, Ryuk, Misa, and others—are all memorable and engaging, with Light Yagami being my favorite character of all time (he’s a fascinatingly clever psychopath), and his conflict with L is just phenomenal. Episodes 25 and 37 are highlights that I consider to be among the best episodes in television history, particularly episode 37 which provides an exceptional release for the carefully constructed suspense. Death Note excels at building tension; it's full of it, and the rare moments when it eases up are truly remarkable. If you’re looking for a high-pressure conflict between brilliant minds where nearly every character experiences emotional devastation and terrible circumstances, then I recommend watching Death Note. The conclusion to Death Note genuinely took my breath away.
