Dealing with the Mikadono Sisters _(Mikadono Sanshimai wa Angai, Choroi.)_ presents a high school harem anime scenario where the main character finds himself surrounded by multiple girls, initially in friendly relationships that often develop into something romantic. The story focuses on three sisters: Kazuki Mikadono, the eldest and an aspiring actress; Niko Mikadono, a rising star in competitive karate; and Miwa Mikadono, already a top player in Shogi, a board game similar to chess. It explores their distinct personalities and interests as they share a home with Yuu Ayase, a young man who seems ill-suited for their family’s expectations. Yuu attends the same elite school as the girls—where they are regarded as figures of importance due to their exceptional talents—because his mother came from an equally prestigious background in acting. Her fame was widespread across the country, and Yuu, lacking her innate ability, must struggle to escape her considerable shadow. His situation becomes even more complex when a friend of his deceased mother offers him accommodation at his daughters’ condominium. Everyone is taken by surprise when Yuu appears at their door just as their father instructs them to welcome him into their home. I enjoyed this anime. It follows the familiar pattern of softening someone's defenses with kindness, as the girls gradually realize there's more to the protagonist than they initially perceived. Their perspectives begin to shift and expand as their initial snobbish attitudes are challenged by repeated exposure to Yuu. They also start to recognize how much distance has grown between them as sisters due to their father’s demanding standards of perfection. Unexpectedly, each sister finds her feelings centered around Yuu, and their hearts seem to be opening up. The question becomes whether they can maintain the pretense of disinterest, avoid jealousy, and uphold their image without their father or Yuu noticing. The anime's pacing, emotional moments, humor, and romantic elements are generally well-handled. The characters feel carefully developed with individual storylines that make sense. It’s a pleasant romantic comedy executed effectively. I wasn’t actively seeking it out, but would be happy if a second season were produced. Hopefully you enjoy it as much as I did! - Bob
