Thrust into the role of Kaleun, the inexperienced Klaus Hoffmann (Rick Okon) finds himself leading the charge, much to the skepticism of seasoned First Watch Officer Karl Tennstedt (August Wittgenstein). Their voyage will demand every ounce of skill, loyalty, and brotherhood they possess. Parallel to this unfolding drama, Simone Strasser (Vicky Krieps) arrives in La Rochelle, taking a position as a translator for Gestapo chief Hagen Forster (Tom Wlaschiha). Her brother, Frank (Leonard Scheicher), is also stationed there, and their reunion is quickly complicated when he asks her to undertake a task with profound consequences.
