Dancing with the Stars — Season 3
Season three of *Dancing With the Stars*, launching September 12th, 2006, brought a fresh energy to the ballroom and concluded on November 15th. Expanding the competition, eleven couples took to the dance floor this time around. A significant shift occurred with the judging system – fan votes now accounted for just 25% of the final score. Instead of traditional rankings, scores were calculated directly from percentages, offering a more nuanced evaluation of each performance. Judges’ scores and audience votes were both converted into points based on their share of the total available, creating a new layer of scoring complexity. Adding an unexpected twist to the results shows was the Slim Fast Dance Challenge, hosted by Tysonia Sichinga and Christian Perry. They aimed to showcase how dancing could contribute to weight management – a goal that proved surprisingly challenging for Tysonia herself, who jokingly admitted she’d gained five pounds thanks to “too much” Slim Fast!
