Synopsis

Dalgliesh received an invitation to Dorset from Father Michael, an old friend, only to learn upon arrival that the priest had passed away just days prior. Father Michael had resided in a home for the disabled, overseen by the peculiar Wilfred, who had orchestrated pilgrimages to Lourdes ever since his miraculous recovery from a grave illness there.
