I’ve encountered many James Patterson Alex Cross crime stories previously, and approached this one with excitement that didn't last long. The writing felt forced, packed with tired phrases, predictable ideas, and poorly developed characters—it was honestly frustrating. It's not the performers' fault; most of them do a reasonably good job. However, so much about it feels artificial and exaggerated, making it difficult to suggest watching it. This version is completely different from how the intelligent, thoughtful, and refined Cross is portrayed in the books. Essentially, there’s too much emphasis on portraying him as tough, and not enough of the character reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes. Ultimately, if this show had been more faithful to how the characters are shown in the novels, I think it would have been enjoyable. Instead, we're left with a poorly executed, stereotypical presentation that noticeably restricts any chance for the series to be truly appealing. It’s disappointing.
