This American television series proved to be decent enough. It occasionally managed to catch my attention, not consistently but more often than most shows do. Since I haven't encountered any of the books it’s based on, that may have contributed to keeping me engaged. Like many productions coming out of the US, typecasting detracted from the enjoyment somewhat, though overall the casting was excellent and worked very well. The narrative itself was solid but presented in a fairly standard American style, which lessened its impact. The performers are what make this show worthwhile; they’re truly impressive, even those actors who seem perpetually stuck playing similar roles.
