Criminal Code feels like recalling the iconic bank robbery and shootout from Heat, starring Val Kilmer and Al Pacino—but amplified significantly and expanded into an entire television show. The series delivers constant action sequences, supported by a reasonable amount of backstory and well-developed characters. I enjoyed watching Criminal Code across two evenings without interruption. There's a small element of contemporary social commentary present, but it’s subdued enough to not be distracting. Overall, this is a solid crime action series from Brazil that generally succeeds in what it sets out to do. It’s certainly worth checking out.
