Despite her unfamiliarity with the social landscape of West Covina and a lingering childhood aversion to hosting, Rebecca threw a housewarming party. It was Paula’s persistent encouragement that finally spurred her into action. The event, however, unfolded in ways neither of them could have foreseen.
