Synopsis

During a fierce exchange of fire with a German tank and its machine gunner, D'Amato and Wharton found themselves separated from their comrades. D'Amato, with quick thinking, circled the tank and seized the machine gun, turning it against the German infantry that was attempting to provide cover. He was wounded in the effort.
