This show manages to accomplish quite a bit, though not in the conventional sense. Gandhi unexpectedly becomes an international rap star after performing "G Spot rock the G spot, G spot rock the G spot / What's my name? G SPOT!" over G-Funk instrumentals. He develops two unusual dependencies: one on an energy drink called "X-Stream Blu," and another—rather strangely—on smoking raisins, which leads to a surreal journey through his subconscious alongside a creature that’s a mix of hummingbird, unicorn, and donkey. A diagnosis of ADD is also part of the story. We see him become a trucker, abduct a mascot, and much more happens after that. **G Spot Rocks The G Spot.** That song really sticks in your head. The adventures he has aren’t what you'd anticipate; there are no hunger strikes, no discussions about peace, and you won’t hear an Indian accent anywhere. It’s this unpredictability that makes *Clone High* so hard to describe. While the characters are amusing genetic copies of historical figures, and there are nods to their real-life counterparts—like Joan of Arc experiencing voices and JFK stating "nothing ever bad happens to the Kennedy!"—most storylines explore typical teenage problems alongside pop culture references from 2003, albeit in a rather bizarre fashion. It almost feels like one of the creators was high during a writing session. They looked at the romantic entanglements between Brandi, Whitney, and George, took another hit, then turned to Stereotypical High’s co-creator and said something like, "Hey man, wouldn't it be wild if Brandi were Cleopatra & Whitney was Joan of Arc... yeah man and George could be Abe Lincoln ... yeah, yeah. A love triangle between Joan of Arc, Cleopatra, and Abe Lincoln ... that would be totally out there!" That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but the clones are so different from their originals that it takes several episodes to get used to, and it's hard to explain the show in just a few sentences. Since these kinds of shows tend to gain popularity through word-of-mouth, that might have contributed to its initial cancellation after 12 episodes, before eventually gaining cult status more than ten years later. I’m not really surprised by this outcome; it's a series any cartoon fan should check out. I'll be telling my friends that *Clone High* is about some high school students who get into crazy situations and go on wild adventures—and just happen to be clones of historical figures, like Gandhi and Dolly the Sheep—with a pretty good underground alternative rock soundtrack, and it’s definitely ripe for a revival. 7/10
