The oppressive heat bore down, an inescapable weight upon the body. Despite frantic efforts to cool, a fever raged, fueled by abnormal vascular flow and a soaring temperature. It was heatstroke, a cruel affliction. And in this weakened state, *Bacillus cereus* thrived, unrestrained. The usually vigilant white blood cell, the neutrophil, faltered, its defenses compromised.
