Synopsis

Jiroo Kuroki seeks out Kogoro’s assistance with a matter concerning his artist sensei, Shizusan Hayakawa. The master is suffering from a profound depression, stemming from his inability to continue his work, a consequence of advancing age. While on a fishing excursion, Hayakawa's maid discovers the tragic truth: he has taken his own life by hanging from a bamboo structure.
