Synopsis

Candy journeyed to Lakeweood in the company of her raccoon, Klint. She secured passage with Tom and his father, Mr. Steave, riding in their wagon. Mr. Steave voiced his reservations about the Leagans, urging Candy to be resilient and to avoid tears. From the instant she arrived, Candy became the target of unkind pranks orchestrated by Neil and Eliza Leagan, the children of the household.
