Synopsis

Candy maintained a resolute facade until she reached the station, but as the train pulled away, a wave of despair washed over her at the loss of her hopes for a future with Terry. Seeking solitude, she found a vacant space in the aisle and opened the train door towards New York, exposing herself to the swirling snow. Soon after, a fever took hold, and she lost consciousness. When Candy awoke, she was recovering from what had nearly been pneumonia, nursed within the confines of the Ardley mansion
