It's genuinely an enjoyable series, fitting comfortably among those family-friendly programs that blend drama and comedy to appeal to viewers. The program draws its inspiration from a midwife’s autobiography, which made things feel off when one of the main actresses departed after several seasons; thankfully, the show proved resilient enough to continue smoothly thanks to its talented group of performers. It's odd, though, that the character who exited still provides narration as an elderly woman at the start and finish of each episode. Like many successful shows, it tends to adhere to a recognizable pattern. Each installment typically features two or three guest actors involved in significant storylines, alongside at least one challenging birth scene, along with ongoing narratives for the recurring characters. While some plot points are foreseeable, the quality of the writing is high and most episodes manage to evoke an emotional response by their conclusion. It's definitely worth making time for.
