Synopsis

The child seemed to bear the marks of abuse inflicted by her caregiver. Yet, her father, though not malicious, resisted any move toward legal proceedings. His reluctance stemmed not from a desire to shield a guilty person, but from a deep-seated fear of the ordeal a trial would impose upon his daughter.
