For thirteen long years, Anzu has carried a burning secret: her mother was wrongly accused and convicted in connection with a devastating fire. Now, fueled by a need for justice – or perhaps something more complex – she’s meticulously crafted an elaborate plan. Assuming a false identity, Anzu infiltrates the household of the woman who now holds everything she desires: her stepmother. As a seemingly unassuming housekeeper, Anzu intends to unravel the truth and exact a reckoning against the woman whose life has been built on a foundation of lies, all while navigating the treacherous currents of a family fractured by tragedy and simmering resentment.
Shizuka Yamauchi, a young woman, arrived at the Mitarai house to begin her duties as housekeeper. It was a place intimately familiar to her, a home she had known well in the past.
Yuzu discovered a method to draw further details from the Mitarai family. Meanwhile, Makiko began to reveal aspects of her history she had previously kept private, sharing them with a wider audience.
Shinji volunteered to arrange a meeting between Yuzu and their father. Meanwhile, Kiichi subtly obstructed Anzu's investigation, holding something over her that prevented her from advancing.
Claire discovered what appeared to be Makiko’s private blog, dating back to fourteen years prior. Meanwhile, Shinji began to harbor doubts about Shizuka Yamauchi’s true identity.
Following a disappointment, Anzu must reassess her course. She seeks out her father, finding in him an unexpected supporter. Anzu then establishes a renewed method for monitoring Makiko closely.
Makiko’s name spread like wildfire across social media, though not in a favorable light. Soon after, a series of stories began to surface, detailing aspects of her past.
Rather than offer an apology, Makiko convened a press conference and asserted her intention to remain true to herself as Makiko Mitarai. However, the decision, it seemed, might not ultimately be hers to control.
Though an arrest is made by the authorities, it is not of Makiko. Anzu and Yuzu journey to the Mitarai residence, seeking to uncover the complete story.
