It was remarkably subtle! Watching each episode left me feeling completely drained, both mentally and physically, due to the excessive and unpleasant shouting. In fact, I consulted an ear doctor who suggested I might need a brain transplant because my old one couldn’t handle the sensory overload. It felt like being relentlessly bothered by a demanding child with nothing better to do than drive you crazy, or like being targeted by mosquitos desperate for any remaining blood. Basically, if the director was so fascinated by loud voices, they should have hired someone more competent to deliver them. Also, I consistently find historical dramas set in Japan and Korea difficult to enjoy; it’s rarely handled well, with only a few exceptions that I can easily list.
