I unexpectedly preferred this version of the Bosch series compared to the initial one, and I'm not entirely certain why. It might be because it isn’t attempting to manage as many plot threads simultaneously, maintaining them across episodes and even entire seasons. However, I enjoyed the original quite a bit too, so that shouldn't be considered negative feedback. They even reintroduced Crate and Barrel, who frequently stole the spotlight in the earlier installments. I felt they pushed too hard to portray the assassin as completely organized, concentrated, and nearly devoid of emotion, almost as if it were essential for the role or necessary to demonstrate a woman’s capability to perform such severe and lethal tasks. Additionally, Mandy Bosch states she appreciates her new position, which is entirely plausible and a positive development. It's nice that she can consult with her father regarding police procedures. Nevertheless, there were moments when it seemed like a law enforcement officer was struggling to express the concerns of a social worker. Despite these minor points, I still considered this a gripping, dramatic, and superb progression of the Bosch story.
